ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

An exceptional example of antique textile artistry that is as much fine art as it is fabric...

This rare antique hand-tufted chenille fabric panel displays a spectacular peacock in full display rendered in an extraordinary rainbow of hand-applied tufts - deep purple body, lime green and black jeweled tail feathers studded with pompoms in red, pink, blue and purple, all set against a warm honeygold yellow background with gold and blue diamond border detailing.

Whoever tufted this stunning design surely spent a great deal of time and expertise to create something so beautiful. It is original to the 1930s and is tufted onto a lightweight cotton bkgd, very similar to an old sheet. The bkgd is a bit richer yellow-gold in person than the photos show.
