Celestial vintage chenille bedspread in an interlocking star design set on a lemon yellow background. The unique tufted design pattern forms a linked geometric lattice - four-pointed star or "X" motifs (sometimes called "cross-and-diamond") are connected by looping, ribbon-like scroll work, all in white.Each star/cross shape has a small open diamond at its center where the yellow ground peeks through, and the stars are linked by curving, interlaced loops that create a continuous, almost trellis-like flow across the whole surface. This kind of dense, interlocking scrollwork is typical of the more elaborate designs by long-gone maker Hofmann Textiles, a premier manufacturer of American chenille back in the day.
